Plot of the film The Informer (2013 film):

The film takes place in modern times in America. Twenty-year-old Jason Collins is arrested by the police on suspicion of drug distribution. He faces a long sentence, but the investigation offers him a deal, thanks to which he can get off with a symbolic punishment in the form of two years of imprisonment.

All he had to do was "hand over" other drug dealers to the police, but Collins couldn't give anyone up, not only because he didn't know anyone, but also because he didn't want to become a snitch.

Then his father John Matthews was forced to sign a plea bargain with the investigation, who, in order to save his son, agreed to infiltrate the major drug cartel of Juan Carlos, nicknamed "El Topo"
