Plot:

The film "Our Mothers, Our Fathers" takes place between 1941 and 1945 and tells the story of five friends from Berlin: brothers Wilhelm and Friedhelm Winter, Greta Müller, Viktor Goldstein and Charlotte (Charlie).

In 1941, the friends see Wilhelm and Friedhelm off to the Eastern Front. Dancing, champagne, music and bright plans for the future, because according to the Fuhrer's promises, the war in Russia should end before winter, which means they can all gather together for Christmas in this same café.

But having got to the front, the Winter brothers realized that this war was not like the one with the French or the English, it was a war of civilizations and it would not end by winter, that's for sure. Despite the successes in the first months of the war, hundreds of thousands of prisoners, the Russians did not want to surrender and put up more and more new armies.

The further the Germans advanced, the more obvious it became that they were stuck in Russia. The Winter brothers were destined to go through all the hard trials of the war, which made them completely different people. They reached Moscow, then Stalingrad. And then there was Kursk, and the return journey to the West to the borders of the Third Reich…

A difficult test fell to the lot of the Jew Viktor Goldstein, who, together with other Jews, was sent to the East by the Germans. An aspiring singer, Greta Müller, tries to save Viktor, who, for this purpose, becomes the lover of SS Sturmbannführer Dorn. But by getting involved with Dorn, she harmed not only Viktor, but also herself, soon ending up in the Gestapo dungeons.

Charlotte (Charlie) follows the Winter brothers to the front when the war begins, to work as a nurse in a field hospital. In love with Wilhelm Winter, she wanted to be with him, but the war scattered them across different parts of the front, giving them only two short meetings.

The friends meet again only in 1945, in the same café where they saw off the Winter brothers to war in 1941. True, there was no champagne, no dancing, no music, because they were already completely different people, and not all five of them returned from that war...
