Plot of the TV series Brigada (TV series 2002):

The series takes place in 1989 in Moscow. Alexander Belov (Bely) after serving in the army returns home and dreams of going to college. But while Sasha was guarding the border far from home, his country changed radically. The life priorities of Soviet people, especially young people, changed and now going to college and working for pennies after graduating was not prestigious at all.

This is what Belov's school friends are trying to instill in him: Vitya Pchyolkin (Bee), Valera Filatov (Fila), and Kosmos Kholmogorov (Kos). These guys were already earning big money, knocking it out of the cooperative traders at the Riga market, and they offered Belov to join them. However, Belov was determined to live honestly, on his salary, and did not give in to provocations.

The first disappointment came when Sasha learned that while he was guarding the Motherland, his beloved girlfriend was cheating on him with the black marketeer Mukhin. Sasha challenges his rival to a duel and, having knocked out the merchant, earns authority among his friends. But Mukhin's cousin, Vladimir Kaverin, an ambitious detective from the Internal Affairs Directorate, has a big grudge against Belov.

Due to problems with the police in the person of Kaverin, Belov goes underground and soon finds himself on the other side of the law. He not only joins his school friends, but also heads an organized crime group. In the wild 90s, Sasha Bely's brigade actively seizes the most profitable sectors of the criminal business and Bely becomes one of the most powerful mafiosi in the capital.

Having risen in the hierarchy of Moscow's gangsters, Bely establishes connections with influential people from the government, law enforcement agencies, and special services. In parallel with Belov's career, the career of his sworn enemy Kaverin, who, having left the police, also became a gangster, is developing just as rapidly, and by the end of the 90s, the former operative became the former border guard's main competitor.

In the early 2000s, the conflict between Bely and Volodya the operative reached its peak. But since both were now "respected businessmen," their criminal war for spheres of influence grew into political competition: Belov and Kaverin ran for deputies in the State Duma in the same district. Despite all of Kaverin's efforts to denigrate Belov, the latter confidently defeats the former operative and receives a deputy mandate, providing him with much-needed immunity.

But Bely's competitors do not want to acknowledge his victory and deal a crushing blow to his brigade, which even parliamentary immunity cannot protect...
