Plot of the film Don Quixote (1957 film):
The film takes place in Spain in 1605. The noble hidalgo Alonso Quijano is absorbed in reading novels about knights, and one day, the elderly Alonso, thirsting for justice and burdened by idleness, comes up with the idea of becoming a wandering knight himself.
Alonso takes the name Don Quixote of La Mancha and sets out in search of adventures with one of his peasants, Sancho Panza, whom he has appointed as his squire. Since all the knights performed their exploits for the sake of beautiful ladies, Don Quixote also decided that he would do so in the name of his fictitious lady of the heart, Dulcinea del Toboso.
The prototype of Dulcinea was the peasant woman Aldonsa, but Don Quixote decided that in fact Aldonsa was not a peasant woman, but an enchanted noble lady, and now he could save her from evil spells.
Having set off with his master in search of adventures, Sancho Panza, whom Don Quixote promised to make governor of the island, never ceased to be amazed by his quirks.

So the owner, instead of a helmet, put on his head a shaving basin, which he had taken from the barber. He took the seedy inn for a magic castle, the prostitutes for noble, innocent ladies, and the mill for a fairy-tale giant.
At that time, noble knights were no longer in fashion in Spain, and the elderly hidalgo's attempts to save this world only made people laugh. And one day, rumors of a wonderful knight reach the members of the royal retinue, who decide to make another jester out of Don Quixote.
Don Quixote is dejected: not a single person in Spain appreciated his nobility and sincere desire to help people, and even those he helped now cursed and beat him. But these failures could not stop the wandering knight.
For the world was still so full of injustices, and besides, that was the whole of Don Quixote's life.
He understood that a festive and everyday existence would kill him faster than duels with imaginary giant mills...
