Plot:

The film "Unknown Soldier" takes place during the Soviet-Finnish War of 1941-1944. After the short Winter War of 1940 between the USSR and Finland, the latter managed to defend its independence, but lost about 20% of its industrial potential, 11% of its territory and 12% of its population.

Despite the peace treaty signed with Moscow, many in Finland considered it unfair and were eager for revenge. The chance came in June 1941, with Germany's attack on the USSR, since significant forces of the Red Army were now concentrated on the Western borders.

The plot centers on the fate of ordinary Finnish soldiers who are determined to fight and win, but the real war turned out to be very far from the romanticism of the books. The joy of the first victories is replaced by the grief of defeats and, ultimately, the complete futility of this war...
