Movie Assa выходит на экраны в 1987 году, во времена так называемой перестройки, когда режиссерам разрешалось снимать почти все. Фильмы тех лет с какой-то особой прямотой показывают суровую советскую действительность, совсем не так как это было в более ранних советских фильмах. В фильме «Асса» звучит музыка популярных советских рок-групп.
And at the very end Victor Tsoi, сыгравший эпизодическую роль музыканта, прибывшего на работу в ресторан вместо убиенного Бананана, исполняет свою легендарную песню «Хочу перемен!», которая была созвучна процессам происходившим в стране, и стала своеобразным гимном молодежи того времени. Участие в фильме Цоя, суперпопулярного музыканта в те годы, конечно же, добавило рейтинг фильму, но и без этого эпизода фильм «Асса» получился интересный и смотрится на одном дыхании.
Plot of the film Assa (1987 film):
The action of the film "Assa" takes place in the winter of 1980 in Yalta, where the criminal authority Andrei Krymov arrives. Unlike many of his colleagues in the shop, Krymov had never been in prison, had an excellent education and looked like a high-ranking Soviet official.
The schemes developed by Krymov for the theft of socialist property and hundreds of underground enterprises throughout the country caused damages in the amount of more than 100 million rubles. A few days before Krymov's arrival in Yalta, his young common-law wife Alika arrives.
One evening in a restaurant, Alika meets a young man named Bananan. Bananan worked as a musician in the restaurant, and was a very creative person, which Alika really liked, and soon a friendship develops between them.
Krymov, who had soon arrived on the peninsula and planned to steal a rare Guarneri violin, learns that his beloved is infatuated with some small man and is furious. In addition to the fact that things are not going well, Krymov also discovers that he is being followed.

Meanwhile, Alika's relationship with Bananan is becoming increasingly intimate, and Krymov decides to teach his rival a lesson. First, he suggests that Bananan go for a swim in the cold winter sea. Bananan agrees, but unlike the well-trained Krymov, the swim almost ends in death for him.
Seeing that Bananan did not understand his hint, Krymov takes him to the racetrack in Simferopol, where Bananan wins a large sum of money. After the race, Krymov, hinting at his power, confesses to Bananan that he fixed the winnings and advises him to disappear from Yalta for a few weeks with the money until he and Alika leave.
But Bananan rejects Krymov's business proposal and carelessly agrees to return to Yalta with him in a private taxi. On the way, Krymov's henchmen kill Bananan. Returning to Yalta, Krymov informs Alika that he is being followed and that they must leave Yalta immediately.
But Alika, remembering Bananana, wants to stay, then Krymov tells her that Bananana is no longer alive. After giving Alika a few minutes to think, Krymov goes into the bathroom, and in the meantime Alika finds a gun in the nightstand. Entering the bathroom, she shoots her former lover several times. That day, the police, who were following Krymov, catch all his accomplices. And in the restaurant where Bananana sang, a new soloist appears, a very creative person...
