Narrative:

The action of the series "Sleepers" takes place in 2013. The Russian embassy in Libya is attacked by radical militants from the local opposition, and a few weeks later, opposition activist Asmolov is killed in the center of Moscow.

The murder occurred a few days after Asmolov made public secret documents on a Russian-Chinese gas contract signed earlier in the Libyan capital. Asmolov claimed that the contract envisaged a huge corruption component for the Russian special services and, first and foremost, for the FSB, which provided the so-called "roof" of the project.

The murder of Asmolov caused a great resonance in society. Accusations rained down on the FSB, and the air smelled of mass unrest and disorder, so it was the FSB that needed to identify the real perpetrators and customers of this murder as quickly as possible.

It was soon established that the events with the storming of the embassy in Libya and the murder of Asmolov were links in the same chain, since the documents that Asmolov made public were stolen from the embassy.

Now the FSB had no doubt that the attack on the embassy in Libya and the murder of Asmolov were carried out by American intelligence services, who were thus trying to destabilize the domestic political situation in Russia.
